Family Law Solicitors in Heswall

Close to Home, Away From the High Street

Our office is on Milner Road in Heswall, centrally located, just one road back from the main high street, and it's where most first conversations with clients take place.
You'll meet Laura and her team in person, see the office for yourself and carry on the conversation in the meeting room, with the time to talk things through properly. Nothing is rushed, and you won't be passed between fee earners as your case progresses. If you'd prefer to speak by phone or video before coming in, that can be arranged.

Our Heswall Office

Our office is on Milner Road, set back from Telegraph Road and the main run of shops in the town. Arriving and leaving is discreet, which matters when the reason for your visit is a personal one.
Conversations take place in our meeting room, and you'll have as long as you need. There's no expectation that you'll arrive with your questions already worked out. Most people don't know what they want to ask at the first meeting, and that's a normal place to start.
We're a dog-friendly office too, so bring yours along if that makes the day easier.

How can our family law solicitors in Heswall help you?

We take you through what starting an application involves, the timescales to expect and the decisions that need making early on, so nothing catches you out later.
Where assets sit across companies, trusts or several countries, the financial picture needs unpicking before decisions are made. We work through it carefully and in the right order.
Substantial assets bring valuation questions, disclosure obligations and pressure to settle quickly. We advise on all three, with an eye on your position years after the case ends.
A shareholding or a company you've built takes careful handling in a divorce. We advise on valuations, what counts as matrimonial property and keeping the business trading throughout.
Property, savings and business interests all have to be divided. We negotiate where agreement is possible and go to court where it isn't, keeping costs proportionate.
Pensions are often the second largest asset in a divorce and the most frequently overlooked. We advise on sharing orders, valuations and when an actuary's report is worth obtaining.
Where a child lives and how time is shared between parents is rarely simple. We help you reach workable arrangements, and apply to court when agreement can't be found.
School fees, maintenance and the ongoing costs of raising a child don't stop at separation. We advise unmarried parents and married ones alike on what can be claimed.
An agreement made before or during a marriage sets out what happens to existing assets, inherited wealth and business interests. We draft them and advise on their weight in court.

Visiting Our Heswall Office
Find Us on the Map

Our address is 15 Milner Road, Heswall, Wirral, CH60 5RT. If you're coming for a first meeting, here's what to know before you set off.
Opening Hours
The Heswall office is staffed:
-
Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm
-
Fridays from 9am to 4pm.
Appointments outside those hours can usually be arranged with 48 hours' notice, and we'll do what we can at shorter notice.

Where to Park
There are a limited number of spaces directly outside the office. These are restricted to one hour between 6am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, with no return within the hour. If your appointment is likely to run beyond an hour, one of the council car parks nearby is the easier option.
-
Pye Road car park, CH60 5RG. 152 spaces, six of them blue badge bays. The largest of the three local car parks. Walking directions from Pye Road to our Heswall Office - approximately 2 minutes.
-
Rocky Lane car park, CH50 0BY. 15 spaces, but no blue badge bays, so blue badge holders are better served by Pye Road. Walking directions from Rocky Lane to our Heswall office - approximately 2 minutes.
-
Mount Avenue car park, CH60 4RH. 88 spaces, two blue badge bays. Walking directions from Mount Avenue car park to our Heswall office - approximately 6 minutes.
All three are run by the Wirral Council. You can pay by contactless at the machine or through the JustPark app for Android or Apple.
Nearest Train Station
Heswall station sits on the Borderlands line running between Bidston and Wrexham. It's roughly a half-hour walk from the station to the office, though there are bus stops along Brimstage Road where frequent buses run to Heswall bus station, two minutes from our door.

Accessibility
The entrance is level with the pavement, with a low threshold at the door, and everything is on the ground floor. If you have accessibility needs, get in touch with us in advance and we can talk through anything we can do to help, or if our Liverpool boardroom would suit you better.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
Contact & Correspondence
Post and documents should come to the Heswall office. It's our registered address and the address for correspondence on every matter, including cases run from the Liverpool boardroom.

If a document has to arrive by a court deadline, send it by a tracked service and call the office so we know it's on its way. Originals like passports, birth certificates and marriage certificates are better handed over in person than put in the post.

Why Choose Hilton Spence Family Law?

Where you take advice matters as much as the advice itself. At a point when a great deal feels uncertain, many clients would rather sit down with their solicitor in person and close to home. The Heswall office exists for that reason, and it remains the base from which most cases on this side of the Wirral are run.
Hilton Spence Family Law is a specialist boutique practice that works exclusively in private family law matters. Time is taken to understand the detail, particularly where matrimonial finances involve business interests, shareholdings, pensions or assets held outside the jurisdiction.
Meetings are held privately, in a room set aside for the purpose, a short walk from the car parks in the town. For clients travelling from further afield, or those who would prefer to meet in the city, the Liverpool boardroom is available as an alternative.
FAQs About Our Heswall Office

We handle cases at Birkenhead County Court and Family Court, Liverpool Civil and Family Court, and also the wider area. The courts decide where your case will be heard and we can accommodate these locations wherever the case may be placed.
You don't need to come into the Heswall office to instruct us. A lot of clients deal with us entirely by phone and video, and the Liverpool boardroom is an alternative if it's easier to reach. The Heswall office is there for anyone who'd prefer to sit down in person.
Most people who come to the Heswall office for family law advice live within a few miles of it, in Heswall, West Kirby, Hoylake, Meols, Parkgate, Bromborough and the surrounding villages. Being close by makes the practical side easier, and it's the reason a lot of clients across this part of the Wirral choose to meet here. Distance isn't a limit on who we can act for, and plenty of cases are handled by phone and video for people further afield.
If your ex-partner has already contacted us, we may not be able to act for you. A conflict check is run before any details of your situation are discussed, so it's picked up at the first point of contact. Anything you've told us stays confidential, and we can point you towards other family firms locally if we're unable to take your case on.
You can bring someone with you to your appointment, and many people bring a friend or family member to a first meeting. The meeting room seats four, so there's room for you and one other person, plus our team. There are stages later on where we'll need to speak with you on your own, and we'll say so at the time.
